The purpose of civil law is to regulate relationships between individuals and to compensate the victim for harm suffered.

The main remedies and sanctions of the civil law are:

Damages (compensation)

Injunction (order to stop)

Specific performance (order to perform a task)

The main courts of civil law are

County Court and High Court.

Each side of the system also has a Court of Appeal and Supreme Court.
